Kura Jewellery is a luxury jewellery brand that emphasise on individuality.
Main Design Concept: VERSATILITY . Each piece is created to be mixed and matched and stacked to give each client the freedom to express their own individual style.
Founded by Erny Pontoh Johnstone in 2009. The company is based in Hong Kong.
Bridging the gap between fashion and fine jewellery, Erny creates elegant contemporary affordable jewellery pieces.
Kura Jewellery pieces are created with collaboration from skilled craftsmen where production takes place in Italy and Hong Kong. Our pieces are made from 18 karat, 14 karat gold, and sterling silver gold plated with hand selected diamonds, gemstones and pearls.
ABOUT ERNY - FROM A PRIVATE BANKER TO JEWELLERY DESIGNER.
Erny, a Chinese Indonesian, graduated from business schools in Los Angeles, California, with Bachelor and Master Degrees in Business Administration. After a successful 10 years in banking industry, Erny left her last position as Vice President in one of the top European Private Banks in Singapore and pursued her passion for jewellery. She enrolled into GIA (Gemological Institute of America) and earned her Jewellery Design Diploma, Diamonds Diploma and Pearl Diploma.
Erny started Kura Jewellery by creating bespoke pieces for her high net-worth private clients in HongKong, Singapore, and Indonesia focusing mainly in 18 karat and 14 karat gold pieces. Very soon Kura Jewellery started gaining private clients from other countries such as Australia, Canada, USA, London, and Dubai. As the business grew, Erny created a second line using sterling silver gold plated to reach a wider audience.
Having been living in different part of the worlds combined with Erny's extensive traveling, has inspired and influenced KURA JEWELLERY'S design.
Erny has lived in Jakarta, Los Angeles, Singapore, Hong Kong, Algiers (North Africa), London, and is currently living in Seoul, Korea with her husband and her 3 year old son.
ABOUT THE NAME "KURA".
The name KURA is derived from an Indonesian word "Kura Kura" which means TURTLE, which is Erny's nickname given by her husband. Hence our company logo which represent the turtle shell. For the Chinese, the turtle symbolizes longevity, power, and tenacity.
