About Us

Kura Jewellery is a luxury jewellery brand that honours individual style.

Who, when, where?

Founded by Erny Pontoh Johnstone in 2009.  The company is based in Hong Kong.

What is it about?

Main Design Concept: VERSATILITY . Kura Jewellery collections are created to stack, style and personalise with engraving to allow each client the freedom to express their own individual style.

Bridging the gap between fashion and haute (high) jewellery, Erny creates  elegant contemporary fine jewellery collections that are wearable and affordable. Erny nicknamed her jewellery collections as "affordable luxury"

Where are the jewellery pieces made?

Kura Jewellery pieces are created with collaboration from skilled craftsmen where production takes place in Italy and Hong Kong. Our pieces are made from 18 karat, 14 karat gold, and sterling silver gold plated with hand selected real diamonds, real natural gemstones, and pearls.

Erny graduated from business schools in Los Angeles, California, with Bachelor Degree in Marketing and Master Degree in Business Administration. After a successful 10 years in finance industry, Erny left her last position as Vice President in one of the top European Private Banks in Singapore and pursued her passion for jewellery. She enrolled into GIA (Gemological Institute of America) and earned her Jewellery Design Diploma, Diamonds Diploma and Pearl Diploma.

Erny started Kura Jewellery in 2009 by creating bespoke pieces for her high net-worth private clients in HongKong, Singapore, and Indonesia focusing mainly in 18 karat. Very soon Kura Jewellery started gaining private clients from other countries such as Australia, Canada, USA, London, and Dubai. As the business grew, Erny created a second line using sterling silver gold plated to reach wider audience. And in 2014 Erny launched Kura Jewellery online boutique carrying wider selections of jewellery designs to reach wider audience globally

Having been living in different part of the worlds combined with Erny's extensive traveling, has inspired and influenced Kura Jewellery's  design.

Living an expat life, Erny has lived in Jakarta, Los Angeles, Singapore, Hong Kong, Algiers (North Africa), London, and is currently living in Seoul, Korea  with her banker husband and her 4 year old son.

The name KURA is derived from an Indonesian word "Kura Kura" which means TURTLE, which is Erny's nickname given by her husband. Hence our company logo that represents the turtle shell. Some also believe that TURTLE symbolises longevity, good luck, and health.
